A change is as good as the rest.
Or so the saying goes. But it turns out, it is!
Over the last two weeks, I have worked from two different coworking spaces, which has been massively beneficial.
The first new work spot was the ‘Good Life Hub,’ a small rural boutique coworking space in Hampstead Norrey’s, just north of Newbury. The hot desking space was open and airy with a ‘café’ style feel and was the perfect setting for the ‘brainstorming and career coaching with myself’ that I needed to focus on!
Armed with numerous sheets of A3 paper and card, I poured everything out of my brain and onto paper to review, analyse, filter, and focus the thoughts and ideas into actions, content, and actionable tasks.
If I had tried to do that at home, it would have taken me weeks.
Procrastination, distractions and overwhelm would have got in the way of that creative-to-strategic process. Being away from home, in a large, bright airy room allowed me to be free and focused.
The second space was the very funky Buick Mackane, an inspiring and creative coworking space in the heart of Newbury.
Choosing a dedicated desk, complete with a proper office chair and screen, the setting was perfect for cracking on with dedicated tasks. Content writing, admin and surveys were churned out quickly and easily whilst working from a space that focused my brain and enabled me to tick off my to-do list. The office dog Rey was a massive bonus too.😊
Working from these dedicated spaces, surrounded by different people, doing different jobs in different industries, some for themselves, others employed, creates an interesting, dynamic and creative space to work from.
Going it alone can be isolating and lonely. Working from these spaces, (with people who are not your colleagues and won’t interrupt you/harass you with questions/interrupt your work so that you work on something for them), provides the perfect place to focus and crack on with your work whilst being in the company of others.
I’ll be doing more of this in the future.
